The itinerary crosses the heart of the historical center of Volterra and it touches the areas which represent the historical and cultural soul of the hamlet itself. The walk starts with the landscape that shows the historical reasons for the existence of the hamlet. Right after, you will see the Porta all'Arco, of Etrurian origins, and then the three main masterpieces of the urban architecture: the Palazzo dei Priori, the Cattedrale and the Battistero. From here, the itinerary runs through the narrow medieval alleys to discover the most beautiful and interesting corners of the hamlet, it descends to the Roman Amphiteatre to then go back up the hill where there are the main town museums that hold archeological finds and highly valuable artistic collections.
